Staneyhill Tower, a majestic ruin within Hopetoun Deer Park, sits atop a hill gazing north over the stunning Hopetoun House and the serene Firth of Forth.

The tower looks north over Hopetoun House and the Firth of Forth. It was built around 1630, possibly by Sir James Murray of Kilbaberton or William Ayton, and was the seat of the Shairps of Staneyhill, Keepers of the King's Purse. Not much of this two-storey 17th century tower house remains; only the hexagonal stair tower, which is still at its original height, and fragments of the vaulted basement, including a kitchen with a fireplace and oven in its gable.

Now reduced to a magnificent ruin, it stands as a testament to the glorious architecture of yesteryear. The remains speak volumes about the rich history of Linlithgow, West Lothian, Abercorn, and South Queensferry, Scotland, and the enduring spirit of Scottish heritage.
