Davaar Island is strategically located at the entrance to Campbeltown Loch, near the town of Campbeltown, on the southeastern shore of the Kintyre Peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The island plays a crucial role in guarding the loch's entrance, making it an essential landmark for maritime navigation in the area.

On the northeast point of Davaar Island stands the Davaar Island lighthouse, a historic structure that marks the southern side of the entrance to Campbeltown Loch. This lighthouse was designed and constructed by the famous engineering duo David and Thomas Stevenson, known for their prolific work on lighthouses across Scotland. Completed in 1854, the lighthouse was built at a cost of between £3,000 and £4,000.

The lighthouse was originally equipped with a clockwork mechanism that turned a mercury vapor lamp, which emitted a flash of light every 30 seconds, guiding ships safely through the loch. In 1983, the lighthouse was automated, eliminating the need for a permanent lighthouse keeper. The former keeper's cottage has since been converted into holiday accommodation, allowing visitors to stay in a piece of Scottish maritime history while enjoying the scenic beauty of the Kintyre Peninsula.
