Sunset over Scott's View

The viewpoint, which overlooks the Tweed Valley and is dominated by the three peaks of the Eildon Hills, is reputed to be a favourite of early 19th century Scottish novelist, poet, playwright and historian, Sir Walter Scott.

According to local legend, he stopped here so often on his way home to Abbotsford that his horses would halt without being told to. Following his death in 1832, his funeral cortege stopped here en route to his burial at Dryburgh Abbey to allow him one last "look".
