TweetBeecraigs Loch is an 80,000m2 (8 hectare) man-made reservoir which sits high in the Bathgate hills.
Work began in 1914, using one-hundred and fifty captured German troops. However, they proved, unsurprisingly, to be a reluctant labour force, and the dam was completed by a team of navvies based in a camp at Riccarton Mill.
