Dysart Harbour, Fife

Dysart has been a port since at least 1450, when ships were grounded in the bay at the Pan Ha' at low tide to be loaded with salt for export to the Low Countries. In the 17th century, trade expanded to include the Baltic states and coal from the local Fife pits was added to the export cargo.

Today, Dysart Sailing Club lease the harbour from Fife Council. Members participate in races, cruises and fishing competitions organised by the club. They follow in the footsteps of early members of the club, many of whom were miners. They built clinker "Dysart Yawls" and organised races just as the club does today.

The harbour was used as a filming location for the TV series Outlander, where it doubled for 18th century Le Havre.
