TweetBuchan Ness Lighthouse sits on an island at Boddam, four miles south of Peterhead. It marks the easternmost point of the Scottish mainland. Like many of Scotland's lighthouses, it was designed by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson, who also decided on its location. It was built by John Gibb of Aberdeen. Construction was completed in 1827.
