TweetThis elegant cast-iron baluster hand pump sits against a wall opposite a block of flats, just off the main square in Blackness village, on the southern shore of the River Forth. It has a plaque which states that it was "The gift of Alexander McLeod Esq., Halifax, N.S., to the inhabitants of Blackness, his native village. 1875".
The pump is an S.Owens No. 14 Ornamental Pump, but the ill-fitting cap is from a Glenfield & Kennedy water pillar, and is probably a later replacement.
