Seafield Tower, Kirkcaldy

Seafield Tower, on the Firth of Forth near Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.

The tower, which lies between Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy on the Fife Coastal Path, was built by the Multrare family around 1542. It was sold to James Law, the Archbishop of Glasgow in 1631, but following his death the following year, it passed through various owners. It was abandoned by Methven of Raith in 1733, after which it fell into disrepair.

Since then, the five-story high tower and the surrounding buildings have been subject to coastal erosion and much of it has been destroyed, most recently in January 2013, when a large part of the northwest corner of the tower collapsed.
